theteabegreen @ 2:39pm: My countdown to 2010
Here are my final few seconds of 2009 and first few seconds of 2010. Sadly I still had another 1/2 hour of work to go. Don't worry, we are only drinking Martinelli's Sparkling Cider. I saved the tequila for after work.

Hopefully 2010 will be better than 2009. 2009 sucked balls.

Remember when I cut my thumb with a butter knife while cutting limes on New Years Eve? I returned to the scene of the accident to photograph the evidence I left behind.

The bloody fingerprints suggest that I bled a significant amount despite the established fact that the wound was inflicted by a dull object. I think that means I'm talented.

theteabegreen @ 6:07pm: Things That Make Me Happy pt 14
From my previous bee posts, you may remember that A) I like bees and B) there is a hive in the tree above my apartment.

Yesterday I found this on my porch. It seems the bees have dropped me a New Year's gift!!!

They must like me as much as I like them. Why else would they give me such a neat gift? I just hope that this doesn't mean something is wrong or unhealthy with the hive. Looking up into the tree, I can tell there aren't nearly as many bees as before. I'm hoping that means the colony grew too large and a group decided to go find a new home.

At any rate, it's a neat find.

theteabegreen @ 5:20pm: Over Achiever
I counted down to the new year at work. We drank sparkling apple cider out of plastic champagne flutes. (Video coming soon, I just have to edit out the very end-- [info]ilalalove made me a New Years wish that I don't want to share with the world...or at least the people that bother to look at my livejournal and youtube account) At 12:30, I got off work and raced to a party.

I then made the mistake of trying to catch up to the drunk people. I filled my plastic champagne flute full of tequila...and I had tequila shots on top of that. I cut my finger while cutting a lime using a butter knife. Check out my battle wound. I think I left bloody fingerprints on the tequila bottle.

Ooops. And THAT was while I was still relatively sober. I am accident prone after all. I was sober enough to take a photo of the injury. I was even sober enough to remember taking a photo of the injury. I was not sober for very long after that. Last year at the New Year's party I got cut as well...but it wasn't through any drunken fault of my own. I was thrown in the pool and stepped in glass as I was getting out.

So...ya. I'm going to stay away from alcohol until Larry Con. I think my body needs that long to recover. (I texted my larry con roommate with instructions not to let me drink tequila out of a plastic champagne flute-- although I don't think that will be a problem)

Thank god I don't get bad hangovers.

theteabegreen @ 6:51pm: Weird Science
A few hours ago I discovered an odd texture on my back. It felt like a whole bunch of zitz or perhaps scabs. The area felt a little tender. I stopped by work to use a computer to look up driving directions.

On impulse, I asked my co-worker to look at my back and tell me what she saw. She said it was a cluster of scratches.

At this point, one of the forensics techs came in. Perfect! I asked him to look at my mystery scratches and tell me what could have caused them.

He said they are not human because they are too irregular.

He says they could have been caused by my cat, although he thinks they would be a little bit deaper if that was the case...but he wouldn't rule it out. (Mulder does climb all over me while I sleep).

He said it was most likely, "a casual encounter with some sort of shrub."

WTF. I haven't had any casual encounters with shrubs.

So the mystery is...where did they come from?

theteabegreen @ 9:37pm: Last Impulse Buy Of 2009
I just bought a *rarely used* pink Acer Aspire One ZG5 Pink Netbook off eBay. Next I'm going to order an external dvd drive off of Amazon so I can watch dvds on the airplane ride to LarryCon.

I'm kinda excited. Don't tell my IBM Thinkpad T30 it's been replaced. I think I should break up with it myself.

2. Iron Class A uniform
3. Repair hem in work pants
4. Buy hot chocolate mix (and cups) for work New Years Eve potluck
5. Buy tequila for Bowtie and Boxers party
6. Buy boxers
7. Work out for at least 1/2 hour

What am I missing?

Update: Got everything finished except for repairing the hem in my work pants. Hope the supervisors don't notice.

theteabegreen @ 3:34pm: New Work Schedule
Effective January 4th, I am now working Wednesday - Saturday from 5:00 AM - 3:30 PM. I'm not exactly looking forward to getting up at 4:00 AM everyday...but I will make it work. Saturdays are going to be tough. I figure I will take a nap between work and Rocky. Thank goodness I will have Sundays off. This will be my schedule for the next 6 months.

Ew, this now means I'm going to have to take a full week off for Larry Con. Ick. Maybe I can work out a trade...or 4. Hope the vacation schedule gets to me soon.

I shot this short video at the Porn & Pancakes party. Sorry...there are no pancakes or porn depicted in this video. It is [info]the_wise_wyn talking about The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.

When asked, [info]the_wise_wyn told me to go ahead and post it to youtube. So...here it is. Enjoy.

Wyn takes his music very seriously. :)

theteabegreen @ 11:54pm: I am waiting At the counter For the man To pour the coffee
Today my mom, Gordon and I drove to Nevada City. It was a nice trip. It was really cold so I wore my awesome vintage red wool coat. I love that coat. It doubles as a blanket. In Nevada City, I bought a nice vintage inspired hat. It's black and made of wool. It's really good quality. I own two other hats by the same company. I love both.

Before leaving, we ducked into a really cool coffee shop. They had lots of chairs, tables, and couches. It's the kind of place where I would love to curl up with a good book...or a crochet hook and some soft pretty yarn. I ordered a Vietnamese Coffee. It was really good...except for the fact that it was iced. I ordered it expecting a warm drink.

I couldn't help but watch the person next to me sketch. He was sketching a really cool tree. I also couldn't stop myself from shooting this short video. My mom and Gordon now think I'm strange. Perhaps a little stalker-like. They probably assumed I thought he was cute or something. Wrong. Never crossed my mind if he was or not. There is something incredibly zen about watching an artist in a coffee shop. It may look cliche, but it's just so...right. All is right with the universe because this unknown person is drawing in a coffee shop.

When we got back, my mom let me look through my Great Grandmother's old hats. Most were not my style of vintage, but one really stood out. It was a Sally Victor baret-inspired hat. My mom told me I could have it when I'm older and more mature. I suddenly felt like I was a little kid again...or at least being treated like one. She told me I could wear the hat for the evening, but then I had to give it back. My mom puts a lot of emotional value into the possessions of dead relatives. She has an entire room full of dead people's stuff.

Glancing in the closet, I was suddenly struck by a brilliant mix-match idea. I put on the yellow coat she gave me for Christmas. The hat and the coat looked fantastic together. I looked at her and grinned. She started laughing. She ended up giving me the hat. But she made it clear that if it gets wrecked, Great Grandma's ghost will come back and beat me in the face.

I'm wearing the hat right now. I'm very pleased to be wearing something that belonged to my Great Grandmother. I own a gold cross necklace that belonged to her, but this hat is different. This is something that appeals to my fashion sense as well. I'll take photos of it later. I will probably wear it to breakfast tomorrow before Mom and Gordon take me to the airport.

theteabegreen @ 11:39pm: Come Fly With Me, Let's Fly, Let's Fly Away
I worked till midnight on Christmas eve, so I flew out to Sacramento today. I expected the airport to be dead on Christmas day. I figured everyone would already be at their destination. That's how it was on Thanksgiving. WRONG. I shot this video while waiting in line to go through security.

I kinda hoped someone would report this as suspicious activity. Maybe I look too normal to truly be up to anything suspicious. Oh well. Mental note, become more suspicious.

On the airplane I sat in the emergency exit row -- my favorite place to sit. The passenger to my right was an older man by the name of Rob. We chatted for a while about the awesomeness of Dexter, then the conversation went in my usual direction -- Rocky. Turns out he was a regular in Chicago years and years ago. I told him I know people who are currently on cast there. Small world.

I'm in Sacramento now. I had a large meal with my mom and Gordon. I feel icky from so much fatty food (my mom is very generous with the butter) and so little recent exercise. I really want to go out for a run, but alas, no running shoes. Blah.

At any rate, I return Sunday night. I shall see some of you then.

One of the officers bought two puppies as a Christmas gift for her family member. She picked up the puppies this morning and is temporarily storing them here in records. So while she is working her shift, we are babysitting the puppies (because Records does everything, don’t-cha-know). Everyone is going nuts over the cuteness.

[info]tkayenyc gets puppy kisses.

Even Sergio can't resist turning mushy around the puppies.

They're not as cute as the baby squirrels from a few months back, but they are pretty darn cute. We are so not getting any work done today.

theteabegreen @ 2:31pm: A New Toy!
For Christmas my Uncle Stan and Aunt Kim gave me a 8GB Flip HD Video Camera. Here is a test video I shot this morning.

Yes, this means I will be posting videos more often.

This toy new toy is going to come in very handy at LarryCon!
